Important voting dates
From the Maryland State Board of Elections page for the November 3, 2026 general election.
- Tuesday, October 13, 2026: Deadline to register online or by mail. Mail-in registrations must be postmarked on or before that day.
- Thursday, October 22, 2026, through Thursday, October 29, 2026: Early voting. Polls are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. A person in line by 8 p.m. can vote.
- By Tuesday, October 27, 2026: A request for a mail-in ballot delivered by mail or fax must be received, not just mailed, or submitted online.
- Friday, October 30, 2026: Deadline to request a mail-in ballot online if you want it by email.
- Tuesday, November 3, 2026: Election Day. Polls are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. In-person registration is available.
- November 3, 2026: A mail-in ballot returned by mail must be postmarked by or before this day. A ballot handed in at an approved drop box or local board of elections must be there by 8 p.m.
